Heading off….

One way to get ready for your college life is to figure out how the university library works.  Browse their website–figure out how to get around so when you need it, you’ll be ready.

College libraries also have subject area specialists–try to find the specialist for your subject!  It’s like having your own personal librarian.

Also check out the subject guides available–the librarians create pathfinders for every major showing what databases and websites are preferred for you to use.  That’s an easy way to get started and use the sites your professors expect.

The library can be your studying home-away-from-home.  There are study rooms you can reserve, many of them have equipment you can check out,  coffee areas, etc.   It’s a good respite from the dorm and a place where you can meet others too.

Check out a few of these library websites for examples!
