Author Lauren Myracle “shines”

Myracle 011If you missed her, young adult author Lauren Myracle spoke today in the NGC Library about her new book Shine.

She shared what it feels like to be a “censored” author(she’s gone from being dismayed to getting used to it!)  and about her background growing up in the South in two very different families, and how that affected her writing.

She also read a chapter from her newest book Shine, a very powerful southern novel about uncovering secrets.   One student commented that it even reminded him of To Kill A Mockingbird.   The first chapter had us hooked–powerful story!  You can check out an autographed copy of Shine, or many of her other books including Prom Nights from Hell, TTYL, or Peace, Love and BabyMyracle 015 Ducks in either library!

 Thanks for visiting Westlake, Lauren!

Cool news!  Author Lauren Myracle will be joining us on Tuesday during 4th period to speak about her books, including TTYL. She’s written, as she says “squillions of other books for teens” as well!

Students are invited to come hear her–drop by the NGC Library for a ticket!    She’ll be autographing books afterwards, and we’ll have copies you can purchase too!

Several of her books, like TTYL, have been among some of the most “challenged or banned” books of the last few years.  We’re proud to have her be joining us!
